World leaders have sent their congratulations to US President-elect Joe Biden, including Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven who is looking forward to working with the new US leader.
Prime Minister Stefan Löfven congratulated Joe Biden on becoming the president-elect of the United States, and emphasized his expectation that a green transition will now pick up speed.
In a tweet, Löfven also emphasized that with Biden and Kamala Harris’ win as the vice president, he is looking forward to working with Washington to push for multilateralism, democracy, and global security.
He also stressed that in the wake of the pandemic, Sweden and the United States have been leading forces in the green transition, which also creates jobs for the future. While the Prime Minister does not expect Biden to change America’s trade policy in radical ways, he however said that Biden is the perfect person to succeed Donald Trump.
Lofven also noted that he wants to deepen his country’s cooperation with the US on various issues from coronavirus to climate change.
Under the Trump administration, the United States has had a strained relationship with EU countries mainly concerning trade agreements. But said he doesn’t expect Biden to change America’s trade policy in radical ways.
Meanwhile, in America, the country’s allies have patched their strained relations with the United States after four years, which prompted congratulatory messages to the new president from all over the world.
