LeBron James, kinilala ng Time Magazine bilang Athlete of the Year

Opisyal nang kinilala ng Time Magazine si LeBron James bilang 2020 Athlete of the Year na siya ring nanalo ng NBA title kasama ang Los Angeles Lakers ngayong taon.

Ang pagkilalang ito ay naganap ilang araw lamang matapos ding kilalanin si James ng Sports Illustrated bilang Sportsperson of the Year – listahan na nagtatampok din ng mga aktibistang atleta matapos ang Black Lives Matter Movement ngayong taon.

Pinuri ng Time ang More Than a Vote na non-profit organization ni James na naglalayong himukin ang mga Black citizen na i-ensayo ang kanilang karapatang bumoto.

Isinulat din ng Time ang pag-promote ng grupo sa paggamit ng mga sports arenas bilang polling places na nakapagbigay ng mas malalaking espasyo upang masunod pa rin ang social distancing sa kalagitnaan ng COVID-19 pandemic.

Bukod dito ay tumulong din ang organisasyon na mag-recruit ng higit 40,000 election workers sa buong bansa. Sa huli, sinabi ng Time Magazine na naging matagumpay si James sa parehong karera nito sa isports at negosyo ngayong 2020 ngunit ang pinaka malaking rason kung bakit ito natanggap ang pagkilalang ito ay dahil sa ginamit nito ang kanyang tagumpay upang tulungan ang mga tao na naghihirap sa buhay gaya ng minsan din niyang naranasan.
